About this event
This event is great for beginners who want to learn the game of Chinese Mahjong, or for those who have some past experience.
We start with guided meditation to focus your mind and get your brain ready to observe and learn. Then Janet Li will teach you how the game of Mahjong is played.
Mah-jongg is the name of a bird in Chinese, the language of the country where the game was popularized in 1880, although some form of it has been played there since the 1300s.
Between games, we quietly listen to the melodic shuffling of the smooth tiles clinking against each other, thought to echo the sound of sparrows.
Tea and treats included.
Suggested donation for this three-hour workshop: $25-$40. Pay what feels right.
